El Nido Mahogany Beach Resort is a 3 star beachfront property that offers 8 free-standing gorgeous villas a few steps away from the beach. This idyllic resort provides a wonderful and private experience for those who wish to enjoy a luxurious respite without going to bigger and more crowded 5 star resorts. Although rates here are not cheap, they are very fair considering you have the spacious villa with private garden and private dipping pool all to yourself.
With only 8 villas on site, you are guaranteed to enjoy private and intimate moments with your loved one. The beautiful design and elegant style perfectly blends in with the local materials. The casitas are built a bit far from one another to give you plenty of space for yourselves. The only similar quality resort in the area is Buko Beach resort, but Mahogany’s villas are bigger and more luxurious. Moreover, as the resort is set in a 5000 sq. meters of coconut grove, it is literally your very own tropical paradise.
Staff at El Nido Mahogany are well-trained professionals who are always willing to go the extra mile. They are approachable and have a sense of initiative in attending to their guests. Management is hands-on and visible at all times and they make sure that the guests are well cared for.
The staff maintain the cleanliness of the grounds dutifully. The pool area and the beach are also well-maintained. There is daily housekeeping available and toiletries are replenished regularly.
The cottages and villas of Mahogany resort are all exquisitely designed, very spacious, comfortable and sufficiently equipped. Each has its own large terrace with hammock and sala set, private garden, huge glass doors and ample wardrobe space. Villas have a separate living room inside and a private dipping pool on the terrace. Compared to other similarly-priced properties, Mahogany’s rooms are better.
The resort is located on a quieter side of the beach. However, the beach itself is not good for swimming because the waters are too shallow (extends to a few hundred meters). The pool is smaller than other properties in the area.
The location of the resort is excellent because it is not on the center of town but close enough to bars, shops and restaurants. Since it is beachfront, the nearby islands are also easily accessible from the property.
In terms of room amenities and service, you definitely get your money’s worth. The price is a lot cheaper compared to 5-star resorts that offer the same casitas options. However, the resort amenities are somewhat lacking for a 3-star accommodation. There is no restaurant on site so guests need to go elsewhere for a bite to eat (except for breakfast).
There are 3 villas and 5 cottages on the property. The design is more or less the same but villas have their own living room and a private dipping pool. Standard room amenities include: breakfast, in-room safe box, mini-fridge, mini bar, seating area, balcony, AC, open rain forest shower, and black-out curtains. There are no doors to the toilet and shower, just a dividing wall which makes it not ideal for friends and families.
El Nido Mahogany has a very good reputation across the web. Just like its neighbor, Buko Beach Resort, it is so popular that you need to book six months in advance to secure a room- a clear indication that guests like it. We constantly check online travel platforms for feedback and comments are mostly positive. Because it is a small place, the reviews are not many. El Nido Mahogany is rated higher than Buko and El Nido Garden and we believe it has something to do with the fact that Mahogany offers bigger rooms with more seclusion and privacy for the same price as the other two. There are 160 reviews in TripAdvisor so far and score is 4.5. 77% of the reviewers rated Mahogany excellent while only 1% gave it the lowest score. If you are traveling with kids or with a group of friends, consider booking other properties in the area as the open-plan design for toilet and shower in Mahogany could make your stay together awkward and embarrassing. If you are with a large group, we recommend the grand villa of Buko Beach Resort because there, you can get an entire villa for your group with your own private pool. Finally, if you love Mahogany consider booking in advance as it gets fully-booked easily.
