Buko Beach Resort is one of the best 4-star beachfront properties in Corong-Corong beach, El Nido. It is perfect for couples and honeymooners who want to have their own slice of paradise in a newly developed property far enough from town center but close to marketplaces, bars and restaurants. The unique design of the property really makes it stand out. It is built with native materials by Filipino craftsmen with astounding attention to detail. At first sight, each individual cottage looks like the roof has fallen over but such is the uniqueness of the design that makes it a hallmark of “Buko” experience.
Buko has only 6 wonderful cottages and a single huge villa on offer. The resort is located right by the beach and the atmosphere throughout is romantic. Other similar properties include El Nido Mahogany and El Nido Garden but Buko’s unique room design surpasses all the others. This is by far the Best hotel for couples who want to stay near El Nido town proper.
The staff at Buko are all well-trained, friendly and very accommodating. They are quick to respond to any request and they go the extra mile for their guests. The owners are also very hands-on and visible at all times. Interaction with guests is limited but they are always approachable.
The rooms and garden are well-maintained and cleaned on a daily basis. Daily housekeeping is also observed and toiletries are replenished. However, do not expect to have your towels changed on a daily basis because the resort promotes environmental sustainability and so they would only change it when you ask.
The design of the cottages is unique but very functional. Traditional Nipa roof extending all the way to the ground is very refreshing in terms of design value. The rooms are also very spacious. Beds are incredibly comfortable, the AC works just fine and the open air shower is a nice touch. Rooms don’t have TV either but no one really needs it when you can watch the spectacular views outside.
The beach is nice but it is not ideal for swimming because the water is too shallow and packed with a lot of boats. There is a beautiful beach a few minutes’ walk from the property. The infinity pool is smaller than El Nido Garden but good enough for the size of the resort.
Buko beach resort shares the location with El Nido Mahogany and it is great in terms of accessibility to both nearby islands and town center. There are also a few restaurants and bars in the area for different dining and drinking experience.
The price is a bit high but it is actually very reasonable for a 4-star property in El Nido. It is beachfront and the room amenities are all high-quality. Similarly-priced properties such as Mahogany and El Nido Garden only have a 3 stars rating.
Standard room amenities include: breakfast, safety deposit box, minibar, tea and coffee making facility, hot water, hammock, balcony or terrace, AC, seating area, mini fridge, hair dryer, fire extinguisher, mosquito net, and ironing facilities.
There is also a bar at the property but it is only open until 9pm. The bar serves really good cocktails that are hand-crafted and served with hand-picked ingredients. In-room massage is also available as well as room service. There is no restaurant but guests can request for meals and have them served to their room. Although the beach is not ideal for swimming, non-motorized waters sports activities are offered.
The resort opened in 2017 and so as of writing, the number of reviews online is still low and insignificant. Buko Beach Resort scored higher than El Nido Garden but slightly lower than Mahogany. The reviews are mostly positive and negative comments are about minor details. Guests found the open-air shower design to be a nice touch. They loved how the rooms were designed, although some had problems with bugs and mosquitoes and blamed the thatched roof for it.
Service of Buko staff is impeccable. Guests complimented the management a lot of times as well as the staff for being so attentive and friendly. Breakfast is awesome which is rare as most foreign guests find breakfast in the Philippines somewhat lacking. Overall, guests would love to be back and would recommend Buko to their families and friends
