Even though Astoria Current has only opened its gate in late 2015, it has already established itself as one of the best 4 star hotels in Boracay. Located at station 3, it offers visitors a quieter and more peaceful surroundings, while still keeping them close to the bars and nightlife. This beachfront resort is operated by the same company as Astoria Boracay in station 1, one of the most famous and well liked hotels on the island.
The White beach at station 3 is the least wide, and so it offers a totally different vibe. Here, you get to enjoy a more rustic and natural ambiance, and the commercialization of Boracay is a little less noticeable. The beach is surrounded by much more vegetation, and there are local kids playing and swimming. This helps Astoria appeal to couples and families with small kids, who want to enjoy the quietness in a modern, luxurious setting.
If there's one thing all Astoria hotels are known for, it's the friendliness of their staff. Within a few hours you can expect everybody to recognize you, and they'll try their best to make you feel like home. It's also worth mentioning this resort has the most open minded management we've met – they demonstrated great flexibility in accommodating guest's special requests, which is usually very uncommon in the Philippines.
The hotel is new and very well maintained, and it shows at every place you examine. Both public areas and rooms are spotless and everything looks brand new. Housekeeping is done twice a day, so you get a chance to replace dirty towels and restock on toiletries. If you are a fan of the clean, modern interior design, you will find this resort stunning.
One of the best things about station 3 is the fact the land is cheaper. This allows for large rooms, much bigger than the ones at more popular areas on White Beach. They are all very well designed – it's clear a lot of thought have been put into it. We never heard any complaint about stuff not working, and for us everything was always very comfortable.
They have a large swimming pool, right at the center of the hotel. It's very close to all rooms, making Astoria Current a great place for kids. As mentioned, the beach here isn't the best part of Boracay's White Beach, but it's still spectacular and they do a very good job at keeping everything tidy and clean. Having a private beach area just 2 steps from your room can never be bad.
The location is very good for those who want to stay on White Beach, but don't want to be right in the middle of all the noise and commotion. D'Mall is a 10 minutes walk so you are never too far from the center of happenings. Getting to station 1 though, where the best beach is, is a bit of an ordeal as it's roughly 3.5km from Astoria Current. You are much better off taking a tricycle – it'll only take 5 minutes or so, and cost 3$.
Hotels on White Beach are never cheap, but the fact Astoria Current has a bit of a remote location allows them to offer very competitive rates. With fantastic rooms, excellent food and a world class service all-around, you definitely get more than what you paid for. This makes the resort one of the best choices for people who want to spoil themselves but keep a sane budget.

There are 202 rooms available at the Astoria Current, making it one of the largest hotels in Boracay. Still, the level of service is excellent and you never have to chase staff members around. People who prefer a more boutique vibe at a smaller hotel, might want to check out the nearby Villa Caemilla Resort, which is also one of the top rated resorts in Boracay but has a completely different style to it.
All rooms are very large, and they are also designed very efficiently to make the most use of the large space. They each come with AC, free WiFi, mini fridge, safety box and coffee making utilities. Even the smallest, most standard room has a small kitchen with a microwave oven, so basic cooking is also possible which is a huge plus for families. The shower area is also modern and spacious, and the level of toiletries is quite high.
For us, the most compelling reason to recommend the Astoria Current are its owners and management, with whom we have a longstanding relationship. Their property in station 1 is widely recognized as one of the best hotels in Boracay for a long time now. Moreover, the Astoria company is a very well known hotel network, with branches in Bohol and Palawan as well.
That said, we would have never endorsed Astoria Current without first trying it out ourselves. We wanted to make sure it meets the same standards of quality as other Astoria properties, and were delighted to discover it actually exceeds those. Feedback from all clients we sent there also helped us feel assured that this resort is one of the better choices for tourists in Boracay island. To further increase our knowledge, we also went over all information available online, and here's what we found.
Tripadvisor has 399 reviews, with an average score of 4.5 out of 5. The Astoria Current is the 7th best hotel in Boracay at the moment. Just for reference, Astoria in station 1 is ranked 4th overall, while Villa Caemilla is 3rd. In any case, only 2% of reviewers rated their stay at Astoria Current as below average. Guests really liked the excellent breakfast and wonderful service they got at the resort.
Over at Booking.com we found an additional 305 reviews, with an average rating of 8.8. This rating is one of the best among 4 star resorts in Boracay, the only hotel that really outperforms it is The Coast resort in station 2, which is the best ranked hotel in Boracay on all major websites. Guests at booking.com really liked Astoria's staff, swimming pool and quiet beach area. Complaints were very rare, and the only recurring one we found was about the hotel being too crowded and noisy.

One thing that really makes up for that is the fantastic restaurant and beach bar. During the day, they both serve a wide menu of foods and drinks. The coffee and cocktails were great, as well as a la carte dining which was very reasonably priced. We particularly liked their pasta – they were cheap, tasty and a very generous portion. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, and is served as a buffet in the main restaurant. We had to leave early and didn’t get a chance to try it, but many people say it’s one of the best on the island.
Overall, there’s no doubt in our mind that Astoria Current is one of the best 4 star resorts in Boracay. All the basics you expect from a good hotel are given, and in very high quality, so we are certain no guest will leave this hotel feeling disappointed. The fact the hotel is crowded is also mitigated well by the quiet and more private beach it has, at least compared to resorts further up White Beach towards station 1 and 2. For those reasons, we feel Astoria Current is one of the best choices for families and young couples, who want to stay at a fancy resort without spending too much.
This is the most basic category at Astoria Current, but still a very nice and spacious choice. They are all 30m2 in size and come with 2 queen size beds.
The Superior room is 30m2 and offers a slightly more modern design than that of the standard, as well as a better location within the resort. The rooms comes with either 1 king size bed, or 2 queen size beds.
All Deluxe rooms are 30m2 and come with 2 queen sized beds. There are also Deluxe pool side and Deluxe pool view which are slightly more expensive, but as the name suggests they have a better location inside the resort.
This is the largest non suite room available, and it’s 36m2. Room comes with your choice of either a king size bed or 2 queen size. It has a nice very nice kitchen area and a small veranda.
