Full of character and charisma, Amarela Resort is not your typical resort. It doesn’t give off a hotel vibe but rather feels more like home. Set atop a gentle slope offering panoramic views of the Bohol Sea, this 4 stars resort is perfect for couples who want a boutique experience for a very affordable price.
At first glimpse, you wouldn’t think it is a hotel because it looks more like a countryside villa. The entire place is rustic and beautiful. The quaint architecture is a breath of fresh air mixed with modern aesthetics. The incredible lush garden that seem to reach out to the powdery beach makes Amarela a destination worth seeing in itself.
The resort is set on the long stretch of powdery white sands of Dumaluan Beach along with other mid-range resorts like Bohol Beach Club. What sets Amarela apart is its incredible rustic design and love for arts. It is also much quieter and more private, making it perfect for couples.
The staff of Amarela Resort is well-trained, attentive and very efficient. They are very professional and will go to great lengths to ensure that their guests are having a great time. The personal level of service is awesome.
The perfect blend of rustic and contemporary design is fantastic. It is warm and inviting. The whole area is cleaned on a regular basis and housekeeping is available daily. The gardens are immaculate and the pool is spotless.
The rooms are well-designed with hard wood floors and antiques but still equipped with modern amenities. The beds are comfortable and all rooms equally share the stunning views of the Bohol Sea. However, the rooms are slightly smaller than most other resorts in the area.
The resort is along Dumaluan Beach which is considered to be the most beautiful in Panglao. The water is mostly shallow which may be disappointing for some but ideal for kids. The pool is well-designed, clean and refreshing.
The location is close to the airport and a short drive away to Alona beach. It is quiet and more private.
Amarela Resort is affordable and the room rates all come with complementary airport shuttle, breakfast, free use of non-motorized water equipment and access to the resort’s rich collection of books, arts and films. The prices of food and drinks are also surprisingly cheaper than other resorts in the area.
Apart from responsible and sustainable tourism, Amarela Resort is also a supporter of arts and history. It is the only resort in Panglao with its own art gallery showcasing local sculptures, paintings and antique furniture. They also display intricate woodworks by young talents and local artists. For those who want to read and watch films, the resort offers a library with a huge collection of books, board games and DVD films.
There is also no shortage of other luxurious amenities like an outdoor infinity pool, restaurant and a bar, complimentary Wi-Fi, water sports facility, boutique shop for handicrafts and souvenirs, and 24-hour concierge service.
It is important to note that the clients we send to Amarela have 100% satisfaction rating and they have only positive comments about the resort. This is also true with the resort’s other guests which is reflected on the online travel platforms. In TripAdvisor, the overall score is 4.5 with 608 reviews where 61% rated excellent and only 1% rated the lowest possible. In Booking.com, there are 199 reviews and the overall score is 9.1. The staff got the highest score at 9.6 while Wi-Fi is only 6. Finally, in Agoda.com, the overall score is 8.8 with 748 reviews. 94% of their reviewers recommends Amarela Resort to their friends and family. Amarela is highly rated like Bohol Beach Club but the latter enjoys a slightly higher score in Agoda. We believe this maybe because Bohol Beach Club offers more amenities and bigger rooms for almost the same price range. While BBC is more suitable for a larger audience, Amarela targets a strict niche of couples who are looking for boutique accommodation. Positive reviews are mostly focused on how friendly and professional the staff was. The food and drinks are fantastic and reasonably priced. The rooms and the overall design were also mentioned many times. The pool and the gardens were delightful and the beach is simply beautiful and quiet. Negative reviews are very minimal and mostly minor and subjective like the sea grass in the water, limited breakfast buffet options, slow Wi-Fi, and limited toiletries.
